I also spend a ridiculous amount of time asking one question: How could this actually unfold in an ordinary human life? A 10th-house transit might be a promotion, a new boss, a business launch, retirement, a change in professional reputation, a government matter, or finally admitting that the respectable career you built now feels like emotional furniture you keep tripping over. A 6th-house transit might be a job change, difficult coworkers, medical appointments, pet expenses, burnout, physical therapy, or realizing that being the only competent person in the building is not actually a job description. Astrology gives us the symbolism. My job is to use experience, research, observation, humor, intuition, and what I can only describe as my very overactive, highly attuned imagination to explore the many realistic ways that symbolism may enter a life.

Every year, I begin this process on January 1, after watching the first sunrise of the year with our Shotokan karate family. Then the real work begins. I sit with the charts and record myself speaking through the year for hours. I talk through the aspects, dates, houses, rulers, possibilities, contradictions, warnings, opportunities, and all the strange little ways a transit could show itself in real life. Those recordings are transcribed, and then I edit them. And edit them again. And then I reread them and usually edit them again because apparently I enjoy creating work for myself.

I brainstorm, question the obvious interpretation, look for connections between houses, imagine different readers living completely different lives, and ask how the same astrology might manifest for someone who is married, single, divorced, retired, studying, parenting, child-free, self-employed, working for someone else, rebuilding after a difficult year, or beginning something completely new. Then I turn those hours of voice recordings into a structured written forecast that you can return to throughout 2027.

My writing is detailed, practical, sometimes emotional, sometimes skeptical, and occasionally sarcastic because real life is occasionally ridiculous. You may find lines such as, “Aries Rising can turn ambition into a competitive sport even when nobody else entered the competition,” or reminders that an expensive retreat may indeed change your life, but sometimes it is simply “a beautiful hotel with a terrible cancellation policy.” I want you to understand the astrology, but I also want you to recognize your actual life inside it.
